'Somewere in the middle..."

I was going to start this blog with "In the beginning," but it's a little too late for that. I've been   dabbling-some would say drowning- in genealogy and family history research for a year and a half or so. Even though I have a few thousand people in my family tree, mostly documented, I'm still a mere neophyte in the community of amateur genealogy sleuths.

But since I  published some of my findings earlier this summer, several of the experts have taken the time to offer helpful advice and ask some stimulating questions.

I've also met a few "new" cousins online who always ask about my most recent discoveries. One of them suggested to me, "there's got to be a better way than e-mail for us to catch up on the family history, to preserve it, and to get other people involved...

and  before I could close the quotation marks on his wise idea, he IM'd me to find out the latest on the past, broke  my train of thought, and scurried off before reading my breathless IM reply.

Yeah, cuz, there's got to be a better way.
